⌈ CHARACTER SECTION ⌉

Character: Hubert Oswell
Age: 17
Canon: Tales of Graces f
Canon Point: right after he confesses to Pascal in the lineages and legacies arc. Prevailing emotion would likely be intense affection and fear

Background:  from the tales of graces f wikia!

Personality: As a result of being adopted into the Oswell family, Hubert's upbringing was drastically different from his idealistic brother Asbel. Being a part of a family only concerned for political power and gain could do that to a person. Above all, he comes across as a no-nonsense, high-strung serious type with a penchant to scold various members of the party whenever he sees fit. In addition to that, he is mistrusting, as evidenced by how quick he is to suspect both Captain Malik and Pascal when they reveal their origins. In fact, he has several asides with Asbel expressing his concerns and how he doesn't appreciate their keeping secrets. In that, Hubert is very hypocritical, as he doesn't very often communicate his true feelings.

Throughout the course of their travels, though, he begins to open up a lot more. Once being extremely uncomfortable with joining the party led by his brother, Hubert starts to realize that maybe Asbel isn't as irresponsible and unreliable as he initially thought. As he begins to care about everyone's safety and wellbeing, his accusations start to sound more like worries, proving that maybe he's not so different than he was at the start. Although he's far from cowardly, Hubert still has a tendency to be a bit of a worrywart. He shoulders responsibility to himself and has a difficult time relying on others. His first course of action is always to try to handle problems alone. (In that, he's also rather stubborn.)

Occasionally, Hubert can be said to be hot-blooded when things hit close to home. Once, in a side-quest, confronted with a young man who refuses to speak to his father anymore, Hubert explodes, telling him feverishly to mend ties now before it's too late and his father dies. He gets more passionate than the party has ever seen him, and it's clear to see he is guilty and upset about not being able to do the same with his own deceased father.

As serious as he may be, though, Hubert is extremely easy to fluster. Once the conversation strays from the next objective or even just any logical sense, Hubert gets scrambled and tends to become something of a laughingstock. After all, after a lifetime of repressing his feelings, feelings become a bit of a hard point with him. However, despite that, he starts working harder to be straightforward, as evidenced to his confession to Pascal in the second arc of the game.

Abilities:  Hubert's main talents lie with his weapon, a dual-blade that can also switch into dual pistols. The weapon itself is extremely convenient and gives him both ability to fight up-close or shoot from afar, but there is a short delay between the two as the dual-blade needs to be disassembled and reassembled. He is also moderately good at using healing artes.

Third Person Sample:

There were some things Hubert could never get accustomed to. Mostly, the fact that the environment tended to reflect his emotions. It was terribly unnerving to know that the world itself seemed to have an idea of how he was feeling-- and despite his attempts to conceal said feelings a good lot of the time, especially while in contact with another citizen, the thinner air and the cloudy skies tended to give a clear pointer to his ever-growing worry.

Would they ever make it back? He wasn't certain those amulets could be trusted. After all, who truly knew what the emotions they were collecting were good for?

But no matter now. He was headed toward a nest of the creatures that were supposedly wiping out the town's crop supply, intending to lend a hand. After all, if he was stuck here, he may as well ascertain the safety of the people-- especially those unable to defend themselves. There was time to think about the bigger questions later. Perhaps he could try to meet up with a few others from those 'other worlds' he's heard of, to try and come up with an answer. It was still difficult to wrap his head around the fact that so many others were from completely different places. In theory, it was completely illogical, it made no sense. But then again, after discovering a whole other planet on his own home world, Hubert couldn't discount the possibilities.

The cavern where the nest had been spotted loomed ahead, and Hubert drew his dual pistols, connecting them into his trusty dual-blade, gripping it tightly in pale fingers as he moved in closer. The air grew thinner still in his worry, and it made it a little difficult to breathe. Perhaps bringing someone along would have been wiser, but he wasn't about to turn back and call for help now. That was ridiculous.

And so, in he went.
